A post-apocalyptic novel by Stephen E. Seale

In 1862, Henry Adams was blown away by the rapid progression of technology, especially technology related to the waging of war. On April 11 of that year he made a statement that was oddly prescient. He said:

"I firmly believe that before many centuries more, science will be the master of men. The engines he will have invented will be beyond his strength to control. Someday science may have the existence of mankind in its power, and the human race commit suicide, by blowing up the world."

While his quote ends in a rather grim fashion, the post-apocalyptic novel Phoenix Ashes, while grim at times, maintains a level of hope throughout. Hope that, even in the darkest of times, goodness can emerge from the darkness. That a phoenix can always emerge from the ashes of destruction and chaos.

The story avoids the grand sweep of the war, along with large scale movers and shakers. It instead focuses on a small group of young adults trying to survive in the post-apocalyptic landscape of rural eastern Texas.

Phoenix Ashes is available in Kindle, Paperback, and Hardback formats.
